About Dr. Deborah Schuessler
Dr. Deborah Schuessler is a New York State Licensed Psychologist who has had over fifteen years of clinical experience. She is currently in private practice in New York City and White Plains, New York. In addition, she is affiliated with the student health service at Columbia University where she provides psychotherapy to medical and graduate students. She has also taught and supervised graduate students at Columbia University. She received her bachelor's Degree from Antioch College in Ohio and earned two master's degrees and a Ph.D. from Columbia University where she specialized in Counseling Psychology. Her doctoral research focused on relationships in young adulthood.
Dr. Schuessler completed a predoctoral internship at The Bronx Veterans Affairs hospital and postdoctoral training at Jacobi Medical Center in The Bronx. In both of these settings, she worked with a culturally and diagnostically diverse patient population.
Currently she is enrolled in advanced training at New York University's Post Doctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. In addition, she has received extensive training in Neurofeedback, a sophisticated form of biofeedback which helps people learn to learn to regulate their own brainwaves. Neurofeedback is used to treat people diagnosed with a range of emotional and physical disorders. She also uses neurofeedback to help high performing artists, athletes, students and executives achieve peak performance. Dr. Schuessler recently became a provider of "Brain Music Therapy" an exciting new technique which addresses a range of symptoms.
Dr. Schuessler is a member of The American Psychological Association, The New York State Psychological Association, The Westchester Psychological Association, the Northeast Regional Biofeedback Society, and the International Society for Neuronal Regulation. She is also an affiliate of EEG Spectrum, the largest provider of neurofeedback training and equipment in the world.
